Luana Island @2019
5th environment biome we designed.
Working on this map feels like I'm taking a vacation on the beach due to the amount of resort and beach images I have to go through as references. With that in mind, I want to incorporate that concept into the architectural design; the theme is of "fake nature".
Feels oddly serene, probably one of my favorite maps to work on.
What I explored & proposed:
- Create and design the theme for the biome, it's a tourist spot with flora and fauna as the main architectural theme.
- Proposed 3 key gameplay mechanics: Floor is lava, Meteor strikes for post-death gameplay, burger item, and 2 other interesting mechanics that have been shelved which I can't share. :(
- Create a visual hierarchy guide for Level designers and 3D modelers.
- Work closely with the dev team and Art Director to create the look of the biome.
