Tarabak, City Ruins @2019
We nailed a proper workflow for environment design with Tarabak environment, it is by designing the environment assets in diorama pieces for modularity purposes. The Diorama set pieces give our level designer a guide to understand how to piece all the set pieces together, yet with enough room for imagination to create multiple maps/themes for the Tarabak map.
The theme of the map is wet rain forest.
What I explored & proposed:
- Set the overall art direction and lore for Tarabak's ruins.
- Proposed 4 key gameplay mechanics, Giga energy recharge location, Rafflesia flower mechanic, hiding in trees mechanic, and Spikes tower that traps players.
- Create a visual hierarchy guide for Level designers and 3D modelers, thanks to Hong Ly for the guide on this one! https://www.characterdesigns.com/hong-ly
- Work closely with the dev team & Art Director to create a benchmark guide with Tarabak workflow for other biomes.
